How to check “short URLs” before opening them


I just stumbled upon this useful security too that everybody should use:
   CheckShortURL
Be safer online. Use this tool to help determine if a cryptic shortened URL – such as bit.ly/AbcDef1245 -- might be dangerous to open (by leading to a malware site).

    Greetings from Oregon, USA where it's summer. Four months after you posted this - thank you! I knew better than to click on those "pig in a poke" URLs but didn't know of a way to check them out.
